No dust jacket, as issued. Attractive limited edition of this work premiered at the Metropolitan Opera in 1917. The libretto was written by noted American dramatist and poet Percy Mackay. The musical score was composed by Reginald De Koven, a pioneer of American light opera. Binding moderately edge worn and rubbed with minor chip from head of spine; somewhat heavier wear at head and tail of spine and corners. Contents clean and bright with beautiful title page in the fashion of a multi-colored illuminated manuscript. Includes photographs of Mackaye, De Koven, Giulio Gatti-Casazza (manager of the Metropolitan Opera), conductor Arthur Bodansky, Edith Mason and other cast of the production. This would be one of the last performances by some of the German members of the Metropolitan Opera Company pictured (Max Bloch, Robert Leonhardt) who would be dropped from the company a year later as enemy aliens during World War I.
